What is Balayage?
Developed in the late 1970s, Balayage is a French coloring technique that uses a free-handed style to apply color rather than using the traditional foils or cap highlighting. Making a come back in the recent years through social media boom, Balayage is becoming a highly sought-out style due to it’s low maintenance and the minimal harsh regrowth lines that come with the sweeping or “painted” look. Due to the nature of the technique, similar to an Ombre, this style can be worn as a “grown out” look, meaning maintenance is a breeze!
No one balayage is the same - each tone, low-light, high-light, amount of pieces that are painted on the hair, or combo is custom to the person on which it is being applied. Generally sought to give the hair a nice sun-kissed, natural tone, it is a great method to refresh your look without going too bold!
Balayage can be applied to hair as short as pixie cuts, but generally holds the best results when applied to hair below the shoulders. Balayage can be also applied to many different bases, from dark hair to light. This technique is one of my favorite ways to add dimension to a brunette while keeping depth. Full or partial balayage can add depth and dimension, or add a pop of color to just about any color hair.
Because of the uniqueness of balayage and the ability to individualization it for each client, I do require consultations. Whether you want a full or partial balayage, click the button below to schedule a consultation with me!
